Ice Skating Lessons: Ice Academy of CT
We are excited to announce these new programs. Ice Academy of CT is offering skating classes to the local community. If you're a new skater, or one who wants to sharpen their skills, continue learning through the learn-to-skate levels, or want to learn as a family, we have the class for you. **NOTE: No class on 10/10.
Classes offered: Learn-to-Skate, Figure Skating, Hockey Power Skating, and Tot Classes for ages 2-100. Classes run for 8 weeks on Saturdays from 11am-12pm held at the ice rink at Westminster School in Simsbury. 995 Hopmeadow St.
Learn to Skate 1:
Learn to Skate 1 is for children ages 1-4 who are new skaters that haven't stepped on the ice before and have had no formal ice skating coaching.
Learn to Skate 2:
Learn to Skate 2 is for children ages 4+ who have participated in Learn to Skate prior or are currently in skating lessons. Children will be grouped by Leanr to Skate levels based on the level information you will fill out on your waiver one week before the start of class.
Figure Skating:
This program is for children ages 4+ for those skaters who are currently taking skating lessons or for skaters who have passed Learn to Skate levels 1-6. In this class, skaters will focus on stroking, beginner jumps, spins and basic figure skating elements.
Hockey Power Skating:
This program is for players ages 4+ who have passed or completed all Learn to Kate/Learn to Play levels. In class, we will focus on the basics of skating skills, transitions, where power comes from in skating and how to improve it, body positions and placement, along with how to transition skating skills into an actual game environment.
Tot Class:
In Tot Class, skaters aged 2 and 3 will learn how to adjust to the ice, skate on their own, and practice basic skating skills through a warm and supportive environment. Parents are welcome to get on the ice with their tot, but it is not a requirement.
*It is suggested you register your child for the class that you think works best, and Ice Academy can switch them into a different group on Day 1 if needed before getting on the ice; groups are not definitive. We do what's best for the kids and will move them accordingly as they improve. No worries. Parents and older children are welcome to sign up and learn as a family!
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Jackson figure skating or Bauer hockey skates
- Helmet ( Bike, ski, equestrian, hockey learn to skate helmet all work fine )
- Students come in all black
- Power Skating participants come in all black or full gear
